Hello ladies, today I am writing to share with you a brand of Japanese skincare called Noevir. I had the opportunity to sample the Noevir Herbal Skincare (or NHS) set, which included a Foaming Cleanser, Deep Cleansing Cream, Balancing Lotion, and Moisture Lotion. They even threw in some extra sample packets for me, and a free "Lip Conditioner S".
I have been using the products for a few days now, and I must say I really do like a few of them. I like the Moisture Lotion because it is very lightweight, has an almost milky texture, yet leaves my skin feeling pampered and hydrated. I also like the Balancing Lotion, which is more of a toner.
The products have a light fragrance of Linden, Sage, and Jojoba leaf extract. The Lip Conditioner S is awesome, but it does have a slight lipstick-y smell. They definitely fall in to the category of "splurge", for me at least, as the products run between $20-$40 each. The website, however, is very customer friendly as they often have promotions or gift with purchase items. Right now, the Lip Conditioner is free with purchase.

Good news! Upon strolling through my local Bath and Body Works store yesterday, I discovered that select makeup was 50% off. I bought three lip glosses and one lip balm from the Vincent Longo collection (regularly about $22 each) for half price!
The shades I bought were:
- "Love Berry" Baby Balm: a twist-up lipstick tube of a nice, light and sheer berry shade that looks glossy and healthy on
- "Traviata Pink" Diamond Lip Gloss: a sparkling, glossy, pigmented pink that feels smooth, not gritty or sticky
- "Via Veneto" Diamond Lip Gloss: a fiery red gloss with a similar texture to the previous shade
- "Baci XXX" Perfect Gloss: a great everyday gloss, looks milky light pink in the tube but shows up sheer and natural, great soft feel

Mineral Concepts Lip Balm and Blush Review! (With Swatches)

Along with some nice Mineral Foundation, the fine folks over at Mineral Concepts were kind enough to let me sample some of their lip balms and multi-purpose blush products!
What I sampled:
- Face & Lip Blushes (Mystic Mauve, Torrey Girl, Bambino)
- Moisturizing Lip Balms (BooBoo, NeNe, Rose)
I really liked their "Mystic Mauve" blush, which was a pretty, shimmery mauve color. All the Face & Lip Blushes tend to stay put very well, which means that you have to apply quickly and precisely. This was my first experience with Mineral Blushes, and I must say that it was an interesting one. I am used to pressed powders so it takes a little more skill to work with the loose powder, but the effect is sheer and lovely. The colors all have a touch of shimmer as well.
The Moisturizing Lip Balms are excellent. They come in very natural, flattering shades. The "Rose" shade was definitely my favorite, as it produces somewhat of a 'Your Lips But Better' shade. Very pretty!
Just for fun, I layered "Mystic Mauve" with BooBoo Lip Balm to create a look that rivals any long-lasting shimmer lipstick out there. My results? A really pretty effect that you would never guess was created by a powder!
So from this whole mineral experience, I've learned that you can really utilize mineral makeup to its fullest by mixing and matching colors and creating looks and effects that are suitable to your skin type, tone, and qualities.

Do It Yourself: Lip Balm Stain!

I had some free time so I decided to do a little tutorial on making your own lip balm stain. This, in essence, would be similar to Benetint Lip balm, but a lot easier on the wallet! You can use whatever balm you have available, from Chapstick to Chicken Poop, anything will do. Also, a fun "green" alternative would be to use Burt's Bees Lip Balm and Organic Food Dye. Not only is this balm useful for lip stain purposes, but it is also great for moisturizing since you are using a balm you already love. Have fun experimenting with colors and mixtures... this is fairly easy, but you might make a bit of a mess in the kitchen if you aren't careful!Things you'll need:
- Microwave safe container with a spout, like a measuring cup
- Plastic disposable cup for mixing
- Toothpicks or other flat tool for mixing, I used a metal chopstick
- Wilton Gel Icing Color or other Food Coloring (Red, or other colors if you'd like to mix)
- Stick of Lip Balm, I used Badger Cocoa Butter Lip Balm in "Sweet Orange"
- Microwave! Mine is 1200Watts, so timing may vary
- Optional: Empty Lip Balm Pot Container
First, start off by twisting the tube of lip balm all the way up and removing the balm from the tube. If your balm is very soft, like Blistex Complete Moisture, you might want to consider putting the mixture, when complete, into the optional pot container since it might not stay intact otherwise. But, that's up to you to decide later. For now, place the balm you just emptied into the microwave safe bowl/cup and microwave on high for 15 second intervals, until your balm has melted completely. This time will vary, mine took about 50 seconds, so be sure to keep an eye on the balm!
Then, you wanna add your color. I used pure red, so I didn't have to worry about mixing colors, but you could add a little blue to make a berry stain that would be gorgeous as well! Just be sure to take a nice hefty amount. Remember: you want this to stain your lips, not just color them temporarily. Keep the amount in proportion to the amount of balm you have though... I had a decent amount of balm so I added about 1/4tsp. If you want a really dark stain, add more. If you want a light stain, add less... you know the drill.
Now, this is important, when you add the color if you are using a gel food dye like I used, pop that baby back into the microwave for an additional 10-15 seconds. This is important because the gel is harder to blend into the balm than liquid so you want to make sure it really melds into it. Remove from the microwave immediately and start stirring like you would with a whisk. Whip it up! While the balm is in liquid form, it will NOT blend directly with the food dye. Keep mixing as if you are trying to blend salad dressing.
You will notice the balm starting to harden up; this is your cue to pour the mixture into your original tube! Make sure you've twisted the tube back "down" so that it can be filled up! Pour away. If your mixture has hardened too much to pour, like mine did, then scoop it in. It doesn't have to be perfect! If you want a more streamlined final result, put it in the optional pot container or melt it down in the microwave if your original tube can handle it. Be careful while microwaving these products and be mindful. No metal or foil in the microwave, please! It might be kind of sloppy otherwise, so if you're nit-picky, feel free to smooth it over by slicing off the top or patting it down instead. I didn't bother.
Let the mixture set for about 15 minutes, then enjoy. Apply with a lip brush or q-tip, as this is sure to stain your fingers. Make sure you exfoliate your lips (warm washcloth, toothbrush and Vaseline -- pick your poison) prior to applying, as this will stick to and color any dry areas first! It will look like a matte lipstick on and then as it wears off you should be able to see how it has stained your lips nicely. The longer you let it sit, the more stained your lips will become. I took a quick pic for posting purposes:

Juice Organics Lip Amplifier Review!

Another lip addiction! I have lately been using Juice Organics (NOT Juice Beauty) Lip Amplifier and I really like it so far :)It comes in a squeezy tube with a slanted tip, and is a thick cream consistency with a slighty creamy citrus scent. I really like the idea of organic cosmetics and skincare so this product was really appealing. This product is called Lip Amplifier because it is supposed to naturally plump up and hydrate lips. It is made with certified organic ingredients, and I don't know if it is so much a plumper as just a nice moisturizer, but I like it! There is no bad tingle, and no cinnamon burn.
I purchased this for $3.75 at CVS on the clearance table!! It is also available in it's new packaging at Ulta for about $10.
If you can find it, and you like the idea of a lip balm in a tube instead of a stick... try this out!

For those days your lips are feeling a little pale but you don't want to bother with a sticky gloss or precisely applied lipstick, I strongly recommend Neutrogena's MoistureShine Tinted Lip Balm. This product is a highly pigmented balm, bordering on lipstick pigmentation really. I have one in "Natural" (shown), and I keep it in my makeup bag at all times in case my lips lose their own natural glow throughout the day. It's a peachy-based rose... I also tried a different shade a while back that I liked. I think it might have been "Fresh", a deeper true rose shade.Anyway, Neutrogena's tinted lip balms apply smoothly with a bit of gloss. They don't dry out your lips, but at the same time they don't excessively moisturize either. It doesn't have a flavor or scent, which can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. I keep it around mainly for the color payoff... a little goes a long way. It comes in typical lip balm twist-up stick form, great for quick, on-the-go applications! I've even layered it with regular lip balm for extra moisturizing, or with gloss for extra shine. It's like a no-fuss lipstick.
These balms are perfect for people like me who don't always have time to leave the house with a full face of makeup, yet don't want to look completely washed out. And, if you have a makeup emergency, you could even dab a bit on your cheeks to use as a cream blush! (Not that I've done this, but I've heard that you can, lol.) They come in several shades and have an SPF of 20. They'd be great for a day at the beach as well once the weather breaks!Check 'em out :)
Blue Q Lip Balm - Get Real - Lemons with Honey
I'm on my natural product kick, and I like lemon scents... so upon seeing Blue Q's Get Real Lemon lip balm, I got remotely excited. Little did I know the disappointment that was about to ensue.After purchasing, I tore open the packaging and tested the sucker out. Ugh. What is this? There was hardly any scent, except the faint odor of Honey flavored Airborne Lozenges. Now anyone who has tried Airborne lozenges knows that Honey is the most disgusting one. Unfortunately, this little baby ran me around, oh, $3 or $4. Not a bad price... if only the balm smelled pleasant.
The ingredients list starts off promising: Shea butter, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil... so far so good... then we get to Candelilla Wax. Maybe they used too much wax, because the product itself is very stiff and hard to manipulate. Frankly, it's like trying to use a small Airborne-scented candlestick as a lip balm!
The label says, "Loaded with good stuff". Well, I don't know about that. Maybe it is loaded with good stuff, and the good stuff has been binded together so hard that we can't spread it on our lips. That doesn't do us too much good then, does it?
Adorable packaging is the only plus here, but Blue Q uses the same style of packaging on their soaps and various other products, so I'd steer clear of the balm and opt for something else if you really like their packaging THAT much.
In regards to this lip balm, Blue Q, maybe you should "Get Real".

SWAV Loves: on10 Hershey's Almond Lip Balm SPF 15
I finally went to Sephora to check out the items I wanted to try out! (As mentioned in this post)I couldn't find the Nvey ECO concealer anywhere, but I did see the on10 lip balms neatly arranged by the registers. After eager testing, I decided on the on10 Hershey's Almond Lip Balm ($9), which smells like delicious almond cookies. The scent does not really stay on lips too long, so you won't get sick of it or be excessively tempted to lick it off.
Also, this balm is made with organic extra virgin olive oil, other organic oils and natural materials. It slicks on as a slick balm, not as runny as one that would be petroleum based, and not as hard as one made of cocoa butter. Good texture and sheen, I'm really happy with this purchase! Love the cute tin... a definite good replacement for my Smith's Rosebud Salve (which I was never in love with anyway)!

Products I want to try!
Here are some products from Sephora.com and MAC that I will hopefully be testing out next time I'm there. I've been reading reviews from around the web as well as MakeupAlley to gauge what might actually be worth the money or not. Here's what I've found:
This product's reviews seem to be pretty good, the only real complaint being the fact that it originally only came in one shade "neutral", but now it appears to come in "medium" also on the Sephora website. Apparently it is a very smooth-wearing, organic concealer that is anything but cakey. It also contains Vitamin E and a combination of safflower, jojoba, natural antioxidants and organic castor oils. It's exciting because it's organic too! Sephora suggests using this product sparingly as "a little goes a long way". I'm used to this motto as well as this price range (it runs about $30), because my current HG concealer is Amazing Concealer by Amazing Cosmetics.
Aside from the Sephora website, I can find little/no information on this brand or their products... which makes me all the more curious! Since I have recently realized the practicality of balms vs. gloss, these are really appealing to me because of their cute (I know, I'm a sucker) packaging! It's not all judging a book by it's cover though, because apparently these "rich and efficacious" novelty lip balms will leave your lips moisturized, as well as great smelling and tasting. The balms run about $9-10 for a single, and there are also trios for $16 with three different flavors. Each come in adorably packaged vintage-inspired tins (although there is one in tube format for those who don't like using the pots) in flavors like Dr. Pepper, Schweppes, and Hershey's.
Ok, I am going to admit something pretty big here: I have yet to try out one of MAC's Mineralize Skinfinishes. I know, I know. Obviously, while they were not in stores, I was aching for the day that they would re-release these mineral powders. That day arrived maybe a month ago when the N Collection came out. I have been meaning to go in there just to try out their MSF in Warmed, a bronzer/highlight shade with golden undertones... but I've been holding back from the temptation to dish out the measly $24.50, because I have MAC Vanilla Pigment (golden undertones) and I have my HG Bronzer (Revlon New Complexion - Sun). In my mind, owning these two products relinquishes the need for the MSF in Warmed. So then, the other MSF they released was Light Flush, a shade of highlighting pink. I have a small container of Tony & Tina's Cosmetic (discontinued) in a shade that I would assume is similar. So that is what keeps me from looking at the MSFs. I don't want to go there and buy a color I might already have... I'm being practical, for once. They still draw me in though. Maybe one day.
