Hey all! Hope you like the new layout :)
So, today I have some swatches straight from my stash! These are my blushes. It's a small, but sweet, collection of just the basic colors.
Clockwise, from top:
- Benefit "Thrrrob!" Powder
- Sonia Kashuk "Beach Bum" Cheek Sheer
- Milani "Sweet Cheeks" Powder Mosaics
- Jane "Blushing Plum" Blushing Cheeks
- NYX "Pinky" Blush
- Milani "Luminous" Powder Blush
- Stila "Lillium" Convertible Color
- NYX "Peach" Blush
I think people sometimes underestimate the value of a blush to brighten up the face. I really love these shades and use most all of them, except the cream/gel ones because my they don't flatter my skin type so much.
My favorites are the Milani Luminous shade, Benefit Thrrrob (which didn't show up too well in the photo, but I love the scent), and NYX Peach.
I would like to add Benefit's PosieTint to my collection in the future.
What do you think? What are your favorite blushes from your stash? Any recommendations? Let me know!

Tinted Lip Spa
In the past few weeks, I've hauled some NYX products and I figured that since I had some time on my hands, I would post up swatches for you guys!
- Tinted Lip Spa: "Spirit"
- Eyeshadows: "High Light", "White", "Princess Pink", "Root Beer"
- Blushes: "Peach", "Pinky"
- Sheer Gloss: "Fabulous"
- Doll Eye Mascara Waterproof: "Black"
I swatched everything dry with no primer, with flash:
I am loving the Tinted Lip Spa and the blushes. I don't really like the scent/flavor of the Sheer Gloss, but that's just me. It's a little too faux-fruity for my taste. I have been using more mineral shadows lately so I've rarely used these, but they seem to be ok so far.
Use NYX? Love it? Any recommendations or favorites? Let me know!
Have a great weekend :)

Reviews

Here's what I don't like: The main flaw with the brand that I, myself, have encountered (and I know people who feel the same way) is that a lot of customers are afraid to try any form of M·A·C foundation or skincare. This is probably because of all the negative reviews on some products and the general idea that M·A·C will "break you out". This is a big no-no. If people are afraid to try your product there must be something wrong! In addition to that, there are too many scammers out there on eBay, etc, that are selling fake M·A·C, so it's hard to tell if the M·A·C you are getting is even real unless you have a very sharp eye or are buying straight from the counter or a freestanding store (which I would do anyway). Their lip glasses (not glosses, glasses) used to be, and might still be, a number one selling gloss... although a lot of which I feel are too sticky for everyday use. I actually tossed my Lychee Luxe Lipglass years ago because it was so sticky and oozing out of the tube when I would close it! Needless to say, I am not a M·A·C-aholic.
I must applaud M·A·C on their excellent marketing skills. They release their "collections" so that they can ultimately form a monopoly where the M·A·C slaves go crazy over and buy the same colors that came out two years ago, repackaged now in zebra print or orange plastic... similar how Disney puts their movies "back in the vault" for re-release years later. From M·A·C Pro Stores to limited edition collections only available in certain locations, it's clear to see that there is a skill here that M·A·C is incorporating to become a beauty empire.
M·A·C is, of course, known for their dazzling displays of what seems to be an endless variety of eye shadow and pigment shades, all of which are of pretty fantastic quality. Yes, M·A·C is good, but M·A·C is not God! Although the color line is impressive, every M·A·C-aholic will cringe when I say that I feel that there are so many drugstore options that do the job just as well. For example, NYX, Milani... you all know the drill by now. Mineral makeup companies make pigments just as vibrant as M·A·C's for a fraction of the cost!! Despite all this, I do have a couple M·A·C items that I feel like mentioning today, because regardless of the fact that the brand is NOT cult-worthy in my opinion, I like these items!

My M·A·C:
- Lip Gelee - "Dewy Jube"
This is a really pretty bright red/pink in the tube, and looks very sheer and glossy on. It doesn't feel as sticky or heavy as the regular lipglasses, and comes in a slant-tip squeeze tube.
- Powerpoint Eye Pencil - "Engraved"
This is an excellent pencil. I use this on my waterline and lower lash area, and it stays on with minimal smudging. I've tried endless pencils and this is definitely the best one I've used.
- Pigment - "Vanilla"
The infamous all-purpose Vanilla! I love it. It's a nice, glowy, sheer golden white that flatters all skintones. M·A·C does give you a lot of pigment for the price tag, which is important too.
- Fluidline - "Blacktrack"
This is one product I would recommend to everyone. Who doesn't need an excellent black eyeliner? The gel formula lasts forever with no smudging AT ALL or creasing or flaking. It's perfect. And the little pot lasts a long time too.
- Blot Powder
I'm not 100% about this one, but it doesn't break me out and cuts the shine, so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to do.
What are some of your favorite M·A·C products? Are there any you could do without? Let me know!

Get The Look: Eva Longoria-Parker

SWAV recreates Eva Longoria-Parker's Look! Here's how we did it:
- Start off with a clean, moisturized face!
- Apply a light layer of foundation or mineral makeup, if necessary, just to even out your skin tone. Follow up with concealer for under your eyes or any spots you may have as well. CoverBlend by Exuviance is a nicely moisturizing concealer that will work great for this, but any good concealer will do.
- Since Eva's look is glowy, there is no need to tone down any excess shine, unless you are oil-crazy. If that is the case, just dust a little bit on your T-zone and call it a day. MAC Blot Powder works well for this.
- To get Eva's signature glowy tanned skin, try Benefit's Hoola bronzing powder, which gives a nice matte, tanned finish.
- Now, move on to your eyes. Be sure to maintain your eyebrows, as they will frame this look. Tweeze or wax any unwanted hairs and then fill in with brow powder. If necessary, set with brow wax or gel. I like Benefit's BrowZings for this.
- For the eyeshadow, start off with Urban Decay Primer Potion to hold your shadow in place all day, and then use a coppery shade over the entire lid (such as Stila Eye Shadow in Ray, or NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Penny).
- Apply a thick layer of black liner to your top lid, being careful not to extend the line past the eye! MAC Fluidline (Blacktrack) gives you excellent wear and flexibility. Also, apply a thick line to the bottom lashes as well, be sure to smudge out for Eva's sultry lash look.
- Now, apply a coat of Mascara, such as L'Oreal HIP, which will add dramatic volume and length to the top and bottom lashes. To pump up the look, you can add false lashes to your top lid and use mascara to blend.
- Very lightly dust on a slight blush, such as Benefit's Thrrrob! box powder. You want the blush to be very faint, and only apply to the apples of your cheeks.
- Now, use a highlighter, such as MAC Vanilla Pigment to accentuate your browbone and cheekbones. Smile pretty so you can see the apples of your cheeks as a guideline of where to apply the shimmer. It should just be faintly above this area, making a "C" shape between your cheek and brow area. This will give you Eva's fantastic golden glow!
- Finish off the look with a pink liner applied all over your bottom lip, such as NYX's Barbie Pink, and coat with your gloss of choice. I love C.O. Bigelow's Lemon Lip Creme for a natural look.

- About Face Pigment in "Wasted Intrigue"
- MAC Fluidline in "Blacktrack"

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Today I am sharing with you an eye look called "Limeade"! Nothing in comparison to Vanessa's green look... but I suppose the subtlety makes it wearable and minimally shocking ;)
Here's what I used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- NYX Ultra Pearl Mania "Lime Pearl"
- NYX Ultra Pearl Mania "Yellow Gold"
- Ulta Mineral Eyeshadow "Jade"
- Sally Girl Eye Shadow "Glow Green"
- MAC Fluidline "Blacktrack"
- Imju Fiberwig Mascara

Of course, a nude or matte lip might be more appropriate with such a bright eye, but I didn't feel like doing that right now. ;)
What do ya think? Let me know!

Essentials Plus Mini-haul :)

I bought some off CherryCulture when I last ordered from them (Walnut, Ocean Blue, Turquoise, Yellow Gold, and Charcoal) for $0.99 each, but I had wished that I could see them in real life before buying. Essentials Plus had a whole bunch in stock, so after careful consideration, I bought Lilac, Penny, Lime and Fanta (click the image to enlarge). Can't wait to try these out! They were $1.99 each, which is not bad considering I got to see them in front of me and take them home right away, instead of waiting for shipping and relying on swatches for colors. I'm building up quite a collection, ehy? ;)
I also bought an L.A. Girl Mega Pearl Eyeshadow, just to test out the brand and see if I like it enough to go back for more. The color is called Sangria and is like a bright violet with silver shimmer. So the grand total for today's haul was under $13 for 5 shadows! Not bad if I do say so myself.
Anyway, if anyone is looking to see these live, in person, definitely check out your local Essentials!
